Our mission for 6th-12th grade students, like that of the church, is to make disciples. In order to do this, we strive to create opportunities for God to build passion within the hearts of each student. And we have found that passion is almost exclusively found through experience. A person can gain as much knowledge as they want about the Grand Canyon, Texas Barbecue, or extreme poverty, but those things take on a whole new world when that person experiences them. The same is true in our relationship with God. While knowledge is beneficial, we hope to build passion in teens through their experiences, as they connect, grow and serve. This is when we move from an inherited, passed-down faith to an alive faith that is all our own.
We want to encourage and empower students AND their parents to better image Christ in their homes and community. This is an initiative where we equip parents to assume their role as spiritual leaders of the family, providing opportunities to build lasting relationships while offering spiritual guidance that is relevant. For parents, we call this the Orange Strategy.
